Cripps Tasmanian Roar have broken through for their first win of the summer and condemned Western Australia to the bottom of the Women's National Cricket League table with a seven-run victory on Saturday.
The Roar won a rain-interrupted match at Hobart's Kingston Beach Oval via the Duckworth-Lewis method.
The match was called off just before 6pm (AEDT) with the home side five runs away from their target of 190.
Batting first in blustery and cool conditions, Western Australia were bowled out in the 50th over with a 91-run partnership between Avril Fahey (49) and Nicky Shaw (47) the only major contribution.
Teenage fast bowler Katelyn Fryett snared 3-28 from eight overs including the key the dismissals of Fury opener Nicole Bolton for one and the dangerous Shaw.
Cripps Roar opener Belinda Page ensured her side made a strong start to the run chase with 20 but it was left to a classy knock down the order from Erin Burns (50) to seal the win for Tasmania.
All-rounder Lauren Hepburn also chipped in with a steady 22 and No.8 batter Erin Thompson contributed a very handy 26 when the match was in the balance.
Wickets were shared amongst the Western Australia attack with Gemma Triscari (2-24 from eight overs), Sarah Fragomeni (2-38 from nine), Kate Burns (2-32 from nine) and Renee Chappell (2-34 from 10) the successful bowlers.
The Fury's next match in the 50-over competition is against ACT Meteors at Murdoch University on December 17 while Tasmania will have to wait until January 7 when they host New South Wales for their next clash.
