The 2010-11 Cricket Tasmania Intra-state Cup has come to a close on the North West Coast after around 150 cricketers competed in the boys Under 12, Under 13 and Under 14 divisions of the competition.

The final day of action saw the top two placed teams in each age group play off for the title with each region securing a trophy reflecting an even spread of talent around the state.

In the Under 12's the North were too strong for the South in the final with Ben Simpson taking out the Man of the Match award with 25 not-out and 3/8. In the Under 13's the North West defeated the South after playing out a tie earlier in the week. The two sides met again in the final with the North West retaining their composure to win. Corey Briggs was again amongst the runs for the North West with 28 while Kyle Palmer-Hughes all round performance of 29 and 2/7 was not enough to get the Southern team over the line.

In the Under 14's final at Devonport Oval, Caleb Jewell combined with Kieran Lovell in a 190 run stand for the 3rd wickets to push the Southern total to an impressive 3/270. Caleb finished with 143 not-out and Kieran 85 before the bowlers finished off their work restricting the North to a healthy 225 all out.

Former Tasmanian Captain and Cricket Tasmania Talent ID Program Co-ordinator Dan Marsh was on hand throughout the week casting his eye over the cast of future stars.

Speaking during the presentations after the finals Dan said, "Well done to all players. It is an extremely hard week by design and is intended to hold you in good stead when you get to Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 National Carnivals. Hopefully the experience you've gained this week will help you in the future and you will know how important it is to prepare yourself for each days play."

The Under 15 Boys competition will be held in Launceston from January 18th -20th with the Girls U13 and U15 event to be held in Hobart from January 31 through to February 2 2011.
