24-year-old George Bailey was handed the captaincy when Marsh tore his calf at crunch time in the Tigers' Pura Cup campaign in 2006-07. A powerful striker, Bailey is a former national under-19 player, and the great-great-grandson of George Herbert Bailey, who was part of the 1878 Australian touring squad to England. Bailey posted his fifth first-class century in 2007-08 during a partnership with captain Dan Marsh against the Bulls followed by a half century in the 2nd innings. He also captained the Tigers throughout their Twenty20 campaign and was named Man-of-the-Match at a Twenty20 home match where he bludgeoned 54 from only 38 balls. Bailey has partially completed a Bachelor of Commerce.
